Acts of Love is a web application designed to streamline church administration and improve community engagement across parishes. Built with a structured, role-based access system, the platform supports multiple user types—from System Admins and Parish Staff to Ministry Leads and Parishioners—each with defined responsibilities and permissions.

To ensure the platform worked reliably across all roles and devices, Testscenario partnered with the Acts of Love team to conduct in-depth role-based testing, multi-platform validation, and continuous requirement refinement. As a result, over 900 bugs were identified and resolved, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for users managing daily church operations.

Acts of Love’s Testing Challenges

With a wide range of user roles and complex access flows, Acts of Love needed to ensure functionality was both consistent and secure. Key challenges included:

  • Role & Permission Complexity: Multiple user types with overlapping responsibilities created risk of access errors and workflow confusion.
  • Multi-Device Testing Scope: Verifying functionality across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices increased testing demands.
  • Real-Time Feedback Loops: Frequent clarification was needed between stakeholders to avoid role-based misunderstandings.

Goals

To ensure clarity, consistency, and user satisfaction across the platform, Acts of Love set specific QA goals focused on role management, usability, and cross-device functionality.

Key objectives included:

  • Validate all user role permissions, ensuring each role had appropriate access to actions and views.
  • Eliminate functional discrepancies across devices and screen sizes.
  • Improve communication among stakeholders to align expectations and prevent delays.
  • Detecting and resolving critical bugs early in development.
  • Deliver a secure and intuitive platform experience for parishioners and administrators alike.

The Solution by Testscenario

Testscenario led a structured QA initiative that focused on accurate role mapping, responsive design validation, and iterative improvement through stakeholder feedback.

Solutions implemented included:

  • Custom test scenarios for each user role (Super Admin, Admin, Priest, Parish Staff, etc.).
  • Validation of role-based access control: add/edit/delete functions, restricted views, and permission boundaries.
  • Manual testing across major screen sizes and operating systems (mobile, tablet, desktop).
  • Weekly feedback sessions with stakeholders to align on role expectations and close knowledge gaps.
  • Severity-based bug tracking with resolution cycles in each sprint.
  • Shared QA documentation for continuous visibility into issues, requirements, and fixes.
  • Agile sprint cycles for iterative delivery and faster turnaround on fixes.
